David Bowie’s early career vinden yields ten unreleased tracks set to reach audiences, recorded when he performed under the name Davie Jones.
The Shel Talmy Recordings, launched by the artist’s label, are presented as the most comprehensive collection of Bowie’s nascent output produced with Shel Talmy.
The anthology features contributions from guitarist Jimmy Page—later founder of Led Zeppelin—and pianist Nicky Hopkins, who worked alongside the Beatles, The Who, and The Rolling Stones.
Among the unheard singles is “I Want Your Love,” which was made available on streaming services this Wednesday in anticipation of the full collection’s release on 18 September.
Additional tracks slated for release include “Cupid,” “Leave Her to Me,” “You Gotta Tell Her,” “Certain Woman,” “Today,” “I Live in Dreams,” and “I Do Believe I Love You.”
Several recordings from that period have already been issued, such as “Can’t Help Thinking About Me” and “Do Anything You Say.”
Other selections envisaged for the new compilation are titled “You’ve Got A Habit Of Leaving” and “Baby Loves That Way.”
In the sleeve notes, music historian Alec Palao mused, “David Bowie’s artistry unfurls like a rich tapestry; each chapter delivers a fresh, surprising voice.”
“Every compelling phase of his career complements the others. This collection, representing a foundational chapter of Bowie’s musical journey, merits distinguished consideration.”
