As The Exorcist returns to theatrical screens, director Mike Flanagan’s latest chapter in the iconic horror franchise, The Exorcist: Martyrs, has been spotlighted with a gripping first trailer. The film is set to debut March 12, 2027, offering a chilling exploration of supernatural violence and redemption.

The trailer centers on Scarlett Johansson’s Detective Julie Miller, who previously halted the satanic killings of Father Sunday (John Leguizamo) in a prior installment. Thirteen years later, her name is scrawled in blood on a church crypt wall, signaling a resurgence of an ancient evil tied to historical killers like H.H. Holmes and the Zodiac. Rejoining forces with former prison chaplain Father William (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and rookie Detective Gina Restrepo (Sasha Calle), Miller confronts a shadowy network of murderers spanning centuries.

The story, co-written and directed by Flanagan, draws from characters created by The Exorcist author William Peter Blatty. The ensemble cast features Diane Lane, Jacobi Jupe, Scoot McNairy, Gil Bellows, and Laurence Fishburne. Produced by David Robinson and Jason Blum, with executive production oversight by Alexandra Magistro and Ryan Turek, The Exorcist: Martyrs promises a visceral and emotionally charged continuation of the franchise’s dark legacy.
