2.37 Chester – Progressive pair Morbeh and Simon Pierre clash
The Chester racing card features a competitive field of nine horses, led by last year’s winners Simon Pierre and Morbeh in the Danny and Harriett Birthday Bash Handicap.
Trainer Gemma Tufty’s Simon Pierre demonstrated his stamina by securing victory in a Thirsk novice race with a late surge, indicating his suitability for the extended distance in his upcoming handicap debut under jockey Jo Mason.
Trainer Roger Varian’s Morbeh returns after securing a victory at Windsor last month, though he carries a 6lb higher weight. Jockey Cieren Fallon takes the reins in place of Tom Marquand.
Other contenders to watch include handicap debutant Asia Force, who has consistently placed in the top three of his last three races, and the Hugo Palmer partnership of Mr Seagull and Home Hero.
7.35 Newton Abbot – Rickety Bridge bids for the treble
Red-hot contender Rickety Bridge aims for a third consecutive victory in the St. Austell Brewery Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at Newton Abbot.
Trained by Paul Nicholls, this seven-year-old has shown impressive form over fences, winning both starts at this course. Carrying an additional 4lb, he is well-positioned to succeed and may progress to higher grade racing.
Court In A Storm made a promising debut over fences as a runner-up at Worcester, establishing himself as a significant threat.
Dexperts Opinion makes his handicap and fencing debut after winning a Worcester handicap hurdle just 21 days ago, and should perform well given his previous pointing experience.
La Pinsonniere drops in class after an unsuccessful hurdling campaign in open company for Nicky Henderson, transitioning to chasing, with Nico de Boinville taking the ride for the Southern trip.
3.12 Chester – Showcasing Star & Norman Invasion fancied
Showcasing Star and Norman Invasion aim to end their winless streaks in the Allington Hughes Law Handicap at 3.12pm.
Charlie Johnston saddles Showcasing Star, who has placed second in three maiden and novice races and makes his first start in handicaps off a 77 rating, showing strong potential for improvement with jockey Jack Callan claiming a 3lb advantage.
Norman Invasion makes his handicap debut for the Ed Walker and George Downing combination, having led before finishing third at Redcar, proving dangerous if provided with an easy lead.
Vidmiyr showed respectable form when beaten as the favourite at Lingfield, while Dartrey can be excused her poor performance at Windsor last month.
