Ollie Robinson made an immediate impact as Pakistan commenced their second innings on Day 2 of the third Test against England at Edgbaston. The England seamer engineered a flawless start for the hosts by dismissing Saim Ayub with the very first delivery of the innings.

Ayub, returning to the Pakistan Test lineup, attempted an expansive drive at a full delivery outside off stump but managed only a thick outside edge. Harry Brook reacted sharply at second slip to complete a clean catch, sending Ayub back with a golden duck.

Robinson bowled the opening delivery full and outside off, offering Ayub ample room to leave the ball. However, the Pakistan batter went for an expansive drive, thick-edging the ball toward Brook at second slip. Positioned closer than a conventional second slip, Brook moved swiftly to his right to take a secure catch with both hands.

The dismissal marked another first-ball wicket for Robinson in the series, putting immediate pressure on Pakistan. Ayub had no opportunity to settle at the crease, while Brook once again demonstrated his class in the slips with a composed catch to seal the dismissal.

Robinson Strikes Twice as Pakistan Suffers Early Setback

The dismissal was followed by another immediate blow for Pakistan, as Robinson removed Abdullah Shafique just three balls later. Joe Root completed the catch at first slip, reducing Pakistan to 0/2 after only four deliveries of their second innings. The visitors eventually recovered through an unbeaten 52-run partnership between Shan Masood and Azan Awais, reaching 52/2 before rain ended play early on Day 2, leaving them still trailing England by 268 runs.

England had earlier posted 453 in their first innings, with half-centuries from Brook, Jamie Smith, Dan Lawrence, Emilio Gay, and Ollie Robinson. Robinson also finished the day with two wickets in Pakistan’s second innings, continuing his impressive form throughout the Test series.
