The Jaguars have advanced significantly toward a playoff berth over the past two weeks, doing so in emphatic fashion. Following a 42-7 dismantling of the Colts in Week 8, Jacksonville delivered a 33-10 road rout of the Ravens on Thursday night. Blowout victories have become a trend for the Jaguars, who have outscored opponents by 108 points through eight games and sit atop the AFC South at 6-2.
However, securing another division title is not the team’s ultimate objective. Linebacker Foye Oluokun emphasized that perspective while addressing reporters Thursday night.
“You win and it feels great. We can’t let wins mask stuff,” Oluokun said. “You’ve always got stuff to improve. I’ve been here a while, went through winning, winning, winning, and one season, we let a lot slide because we were winning. So we got to keep learning in wins and stuff because it’s all about who’s playing the best in December and then we make that run [in] January and February. We got to keep improving all the way through the year, get the advantageous situation going into the playoffs.”
Jacksonville hosted a playoff game after winning 13 games during the 2022 season but was eliminated by the Bills. Oluokun was on the field for that defeat, and preventing a similar early exit remains a primary focus as he works to maintain the team’s focus while they dominate weaker competition.
