Will Ospreay’s first defense of the AEW World Championship is now official. During the closing segment of the September 2 episode of AEW Dynamite, it was announced that Ospreay will put his title on the line against Jon Moxley at All Out, set for September 26 in Chicago.
Ospreay and Moxley have met in singles competition on two previous occasions, with Moxley holding a perfect 2-0 record. Their first encounter came at NJPW Windy City Riot in 2022, and they squared off again at AEW Dynasty in April, where the Continental Championship was at stake.
Ospreay and Moxley Set for AEW World Title Clash at All Out
The title match announcement followed a chaotic 10-man tag team main event in which Ospreay teamed with Andrade El Idolo and other members of United Empire to face The Demand (Bishop Kaun, Ricochet, and Toa Liona) alongside the Dogs (Clark Connors and Gabe Kidd).
After Ospreay’s team secured the victory, the situation escalated when Gabe Kidd attacked the new champion and attempted to strike him with a steel chair.
That moment brought the Death Riders into the picture.
Moxley stepped between Kidd and Ospreay, preventing the chair shot from connecting. Andrade ultimately removed Kidd from the scene, leading to a brawl that sent the two men to the backstage area.
With the ring cleared, Moxley lifted Ospreay’s AEW World Championship onto his shoulder and stared down the champion. The tense moment between the former allies was broken when the arena screen lit up to reveal the announcement of their All Out title match. Moxley appeared visibly stunned as he processed the news.
Moxley is now in pursuit of his fifth AEW World Championship reign. He most recently held the title before dropping it to Hangman Page at All In: Texas in July 2025.
Meanwhile, Ospreay is coming off his victory over Kenny Omega at All In, which crowned him as the new AEW World Champion. His first title defense will now come against one of his allies in a high-stakes showdown.
