A dedicated San Diego Padres fan, known on X as @Eggorian, captured widespread attention after turning to social media to find a last-minute date for his team’s crucial playoff game.

In his initial post, he invited fellow fans to join him in the dugout club section, writing, “Do you want to go to the #Padres / Cubs playoff game on Wednesday night with me? This is me. I sit here….dugout club section 4. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I no longer have a date for the game and want to fix that.” He set specific criteria for prospective dates, asking, “Are you: 1) Female / 2) Single / 3) Age 30-55 / 4) A Padres fanatic / If so, you qualify! If you’re interested, send me a DM.”

While some online critics quickly mocked his unconventional search method, the fan later shared a humorous update on the overwhelming response he received.

“It’s been an interesting couple of days. 100s of DMs received…Most of them from men and large women under 30. I did not have a date when I hopped in my car at 4pm yesterday. While driving I received a DM from a friend of @julie_at_law saying that I should ask her 41 year old friend to go. So I did,” he wrote on social media.

Ultimately, a connection was made, and he attended the game with a 41-year-old friend of an acquaintance. He described the outing as highly successful, noting, “She accepted and we went. By all accounts, we had a great time. Healthy conversations about a variety of topics. Our opinions didn’t always align and believe it or not…that’s OK. Most importantly, the Pads closed out the Cubs and are moving on.”

With the Padres advancing to the next round, the fan’s search for a companion might just continue as they prepare to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS.
