The Panthers captured the NFC South title last season, and owner David Tepper anticipates continued success in 2026.
At a gathering addressing the naming‑rights extension for Bank of America Stadium and the stadium’s renovation, Tepper was asked to describe a championship team. He responded that the Panthers should be competing for the conference’s top spot this year.
“What we have here,” Tepper said, via the team’s website. “Yesterday I said that entering last season we were not yet a playoff team, but we were positioned to reach the playoffs. This year we are a playoff team.”
The Panthers recorded three additional victories in 2026 compared to 2025 and secured the division title, making it reasonable to anticipate further growth under head coach Dave Canales in his third year. While there is no formal requirement, falling short of the owner’s projected season would raise questions about the franchise’s response to underperformance.
