Sheffield United extended their winning run with a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Preston North End at Deepdale on Tuesday evening.
The hosts made a dream start, taking the lead inside five minutes when Leo Leroy pounced on a loose ball in the box to fire home. However, Sydie Peck soon stole the show with a stunning first-half hat-trick. The midfielder’s opener came via a fortunate cross that evaded everyone and nestled in the net. He then cut inside to curl a superb effort into the top corner from distance, before completing his treble by sliding home a low cross at the far post just before the interval.

First Half
North End made the perfect start, breaking the deadlock within two minutes. Andrew Hughes dispossessed Tahith Chong before driving down the left flank and picking out Leroy, who found ample space to unleash a superb finish for his first Preston goal.
United sought an immediate response, with Ben Brereton Diaz narrowly volleying over the crossbar moments later. The visitors gradually found their rhythm and drew level shortly before the half-hour mark. Peck delivered a dangerous cross into the penalty area that caused chaos in the home defence; goalkeeper Dan Iversen failed to deal with the delivery, allowing the ball to cross the line.
The Blades completed the turnaround with ten minutes of the half remaining. Tom Cannon played a perfectly weighted through-ball for Peck, who rounded Iversen with composure before slotting home to give United the lead.
There was still time for a third before the break. In stoppage time, Harrison Burrows produced excellent work down the left flank before crossing into the danger zone. Peck arrived at the far post to turn the ball home, claiming the assist for Donovan and securing a remarkable first-half hat-trick.
Second Half
United picked up where they left off after the restart, with Chong going close following an impressive individual run, only to see his effort drift wide. The winger then turned provider for Peck, but Iversen made a sharp near-post save to deny the midfielder a fourth goal.
Preston struggled to carve out openings, though Kian Devine tested the visitor’s resolve with a free-kick that sailed over the bar. With 13 minutes remaining, the hosts finally found a breakthrough. After winning possession high up the pitch, Preston worked the ball to Devine, who found Callum Lang inside the area; the substitute made no mistake with a neat finish into the bottom corner.
The goal ignited the home crowd and handed North End late momentum, but Sheffield United remained composed under pressure to see out the victory and claim all three points.
