Prime Video’s Genre-Bending Animated Anthology Series Unites Arnold and Patrick Schwarzenegger in Separate Video Game Worlds

As Patrick Schwarzenegger’s star continues to rise, fans are naturally going to wonder when he will share the screen with his famous father, Arnold. While the two have expressed interest in collaborating on the right project, they have actually already starred in the same series: Prime Video’s animated anthology gem, Secret Level.

While Arnold is universally recognized for his iconic action movie franchises like Terminator, Predator, and The Expendables, Patrick broke out in the cast of The White Lotus season 3 in 2025. Prior to his starmaking turn in the Mike White series, Patrick had credits in several other notable shows, including The Terminal List, Gen V, and Secret Level.

Premiering in 2024, Secret Level is an adult animated anthology series from Prime Video. Each episode is a standalone story set in a different video game universe, with Season 1 exploring iconic franchises such as Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer 40,000, and Pac-Man.

Though Secret Level is a fairly obscure series compared to other contemporary sci-fi offerings, it has attracted some very famous vocal talent. Stars like Keanu Reeves and Kevin Hart have lent their voices to the show, as have Arnold and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Although father and son have said they would be open to working together on a project, nothing is officially in development, making Secret Level a must-watch for fans of the Schwarzeneggers and sci-fi enthusiasts alike.

While both Arnold and Patrick Schwarzenegger have a Secret Level credit on their IMDb pages, they have yet to share a scene, as the stars appeared in different episodes of the Prime Video animated show. Arnold voiced the role of King Aelstrom in Episode 3, “New World: The Once and Future King,” while Patrick played The Kid in Episode 8, “Armored Core: Asset Management”.

Though both are part of the same series, the Schwarzeneggers’ episodes couldn’t be more different in tone. Arnold’s New World episode is intentionally over-the-top and silly, with his King Aelstrom character serving as a meta-parody of the actor’s iconic Conan the Barbarian action hero — albeit with none of Conan’s actual skills. In contrast, the Armored Core episode has a much grittier tone and functions as an ensemble piece starring Patrick alongside Keanu Reeves, Erin Yvette, Temuera Morrison, and Steve Blum. While Arnold’s episode was ultimately better received, much of this has to do with the persona the senior Schwarzenegger has cultivated over his five-decade career. Meanwhile, the fact that Patrick held his own opposite Reeves says a lot about his talent.

Why Secret Level Is One Of Sci-Fi’s True Hidden Gems

In addition to its wildly talented cast, Secret Level is a phenomenal sci-fi show because its anthology format means it can explore myriad branches of the genre, all through the lens of popular video games. The Exodus episode is a space opera, Unreal Tournament is cyberpunk, Pac-Man is surrealism, and fans of grimdark have an episode based on the subgenre’s OG title, Warhammer 40,000.

In fact, the Warhammer 40,000 episode was so popular that Prime Video has greenlit a spinoff series based on it, with Henry Cavill set to produce. That’s not all, as despite mixed reviews, Secret Level has been renewed for a second season.

The great thing about Secret Level is that, as long as it keeps finding video games to adapt, it could theoretically go on forever. After all, it’s clearly a lightning rod for A-list talent — as Arnold and Patrick Schwarzenegger can attest.
