Pakistan Stock Exchange Index Surges Past 171,400 Points

ISLAMABAD, Sep 22 (AP): The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE-100) Index showed a strong upward momentum on Tuesday, climbing 248.92 points—a rise of 0.15%—to seal the session at 171,402.08, up from 171,153.17 in the prior trading slot.

Trading activity saw a slight dip in share circulation, with the ready market recording 641.834 million shares traded, down from 692.884 million in the previous session. TotalTraded value fell to Rs18.466 billion, compared with Rs20.100 billion yesterday.

Market capitalization expanded to Rs19.093 trillion from Rs19.041 trillion seen earlier. Among the 494 listed firms, 226 posted gains, 221 posted losses, and 47 were flat.

Tasdeeq Information led the volume charts with 133.189 million shares, followed by Media Times Ltd with 72.720 million shares and WorldCall Telecom with 48.572 million shares.

Among the notable winners, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited rallied by Rs250.00, closing at Rs25,250.00, while Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited edged higher by Rs42.14 to settle at Rs1,405.47.

On the negative side, Public Interest Authority Holding Co. Limited fell sharply by Rs276.95 to close at Rs15,673.05, whereas Siemens (Pakistan) Engineering slipped under Rs80.27 to Rs1,620.10.

In the derivatives (DFC) segment, turnover reached 505.609 million shares with a traded value of Rs17.489 billion, up from Rs15.354 billion last session. Of the 319 contracts exchanged, 153 rose, 156 dropped, and 10 stayed unchanged.
