WWE Champion Gunther will put his title on the line against Cody Rhodes at WWE Clash in Italy, with the Austrian star returning to European competition. In a recent interview with Netflix Italia, Gunther discussed his favorite Italian football player.
When asked about his preferred Italian footballer, Gunther named Roberto Baggio, recalling the 1994 World Cup in the United States as his earliest memories of watching football. While Baggio is often remembered for his iconic ponytail and missing the decisive penalty in the final against Brazil, he scoring five goals during the tournament and earning the Silver Ball as the competition’s second-top scorer.
Baggio Sends Support to Gunther
Italian football legend Baggio later sent a personal message to Gunther, telling Netflix Italia:
“Hi Gunther, it’s Roby. I saw the pictures of you wearing my jersey during training. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. I hope all of this brings you good luck for Clash In Italy, and of course for your life in general. Big hug, see you soon, ciao!”
