New Delhi, November 4: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma electrified the first ODI in Auckland, delivering outstanding fielding moments against New Zealand.

Kohli took a diving low catch at second slip to dismiss Nathan Smith in the 29th over, bowled by Anshul Kamboj, taking New Zealand to 115/7 at Eden Park.

Smith attempted a full delivery outside off stump but edged it thickly; Kohli dived to his right, held the ball just inches above the ground, and celebrated with a ‘bow and arrow’ gesture.

Earlier, Rohit contributed to dismissing Daryl Mitchell in the 22nd over, India’s fifth wicket. Mitchell lofted an Axar Patel delivery toward the leg side, and Rohit, positioned from mid-wicket, took the catch.

A momentary mix‑up between the batsmen allowed Rohit time to collect the ball and deliver a sharp underarm throw, which wicketkeeper KL Rahul gathered cleanly to complete the run‑out.

Disciplined Indian Bowling Restricts Kiwis to 185

India delivered a disciplined bowling performance, restricting New Zealand to 185 in the series opener at Eden Park in Auckland. Arshdeep Singh led with four wickets, Gurnoor Brar took three, and Anshul Kamboj claimed two.

After winning the toss, captain Shubman Gill chose to bowl, and Arshdeep struck early by dismissing Will Young for nine in the fifth over, then followed with Henry Nicholls, leaving the hosts under pressure.

Tim Seifert (38) and Daryl Mitchell tried to stabilize the innings, but Brar dismissed both Seifert and Tom Latham. Mitchell was later run out for 28 after sharp fielding by Rohit Sharma.

Kamboj added two more wickets, while Arshdeep dismissed Glenn Phillips for 30. Blair Tickner gave a late burst of 34 off 23 balls, but New Zealand were bowled out at 185.
