In a recent interview with Men’s Health, WWE Superstar and World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns opened up about his ongoing battle with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), describing the condition as currently under control. Below are key takeaways from the conversation:
Roman Reigns on His Continued Fight Against CML
“With my medical history, I have to be very careful. I’m still, to this day, down to the wire fighting CML. I have to be very careful when it comes to things like that. Anything invasive or anything like that, I can’t take a chance on it. I’ve heard all kinds of cool stuff about that, but I haven’t been able to break into that or sample it. Maybe one day it’ll be a question for my doctor, but it’s something that I’ve been able to outwork everything to this point. If I can keep doing that, I’ll stay on that route.”
On How His Condition Is Currently Under Control
“It’s under control, and we’re under the actual baseline, but to be in molecular remission, it has to be almost zeroed out, and there are still those minute traces, like .0031, but it counts. I still have to be very careful and very smart. For me, and this is someone who doesn’t have a lot of knowledge on it, peptides are overrated.”
In October 2018, Reigns was forced to take a sabbatical from WWE due to his fight with CML and vacated the Universal Title. He would later make his WWE TV return in February of the following year.
Reigns currently has a huge month ahead of him. He stars in the new live-action Street Fighter movie as Akuma, along with WWE’s Cody Rhodes as Guile, which hits theaters on October 16.
Reigns also defends his title against LA Knight at WWE Money in the Bank 2026 on October 10. The WWE premium live event emanates from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. It will air live on the ESPN App in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
