[Russian Ballistic Missile Strikes Key Energy Facility in Kyiv, Zelensky Warns of War Continuation]
A crucial energy facility providing heating and electricity to Kyiv has suffered significant damage in a Russian ballistic missile strike, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed.
The Darnytska CHP-4 (CHPP-4), along with an adjacent residential building, were targeted, a situation the president described as having unfolded without prior alerts from partner nations.
Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that two civilians perished and twenty-one others were wounded in the apartment-block bombing late on Tuesday, with four victims requiring serious care.
This follow-up assault occurs two days after U.S. President Donald Trump announced an energy-focused ceasefire brokered by Russia and Ukraine, even as Kyiv documented additional Russian strikes in succession.
“Ukraine embraced the energy‑security pact, yet Russia continues targeting energy infrastructure and civilian life,” Zelensky declared on social media following the blastings.
“This is blatantly unjust: Russia’s destruction of our power grid, especially amid the absence of early warning systems for ballistic missile launches, represents an extreme violation of international norms.”
It represents the second night consecutively in which Kyiv has endure Russian missile fire.
After Monday night’s strikes, there were rumours that American assistance had been withdrawn, compromising Ukraine’s capacity to anticipate incoming threats.
“We are extending aid and sharing intelligence with you,” Trump responded.
“Our aim is to end the conflict. Accordingly, we cooperate with both parties toward concluding hostilities.”
When pressed about Russia’s breach of the ceasefire, Trump maintained that both sides longed for the war to conclude but lacked clarity.
Zelensky outlined plans that advanced a sixty‑day truce would grant his nation the opportunity to conduct presidential elections, countering remarks from Washington that Kyiv required a fresh leader.
Subsequent to Trump’s declaration on Sunday, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov rejected the notion that Ukraine deserved the respite a ceasefire might assure.
Lavlov argued that under any interim arrangement, European states could funnel additional weaponry to Kyiv, thereby perpetuating the war effort.
CHPP-4—the station serving the Dniprovskyi district and adjoining sectors of Darnytskyi—is a repeated target, having sustained repeated impacts throughout the conflict.
Its most recent blow occurred in February of this year, a missile strike that forced the facility into complete inactivity.
That assault left over a thousand homes without heat or potable water and disabled forty‑seven schools, seventy‑two kindergartens, and eighteen medical centers, according to Reuters reporting.
