Sami Zayn has finally ascended to the pinnacle of professional wrestling.
It is a milestone he has rightfully earned.
The beloved superstar secured his first career world title during the main event of WWE Night of Champions on Saturday, June 27. In a high-stakes Triple Threat Match, Zayn defeated both Cody Rhodes and Gunther to be crowned the new Undisputed WWE Champion.
The championship showdown served as the marquee attraction for the Premium Live Event held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The deciding moment occurred when Rhodes attempted to finish the match with a Cross Rhodes; however, Zayn skillfully countered the maneuver into a pinning combination, securing the three-count and marking the most significant victory of his career.
In the aftermath of his emotional triumph, a visibly moved Zayn addressed the capacity crowd during a post-match interview.
“Some good, and lately, some bad,” Zayn began. “A lot of folks said I would never win the WWE Championship. But I stand here tonight, in front of my people… It is hard to believe. Oh my God. I’m not usually at a loss for words but…”
The arena erupted with chants of “You deserve it,” which visibly affected the new champion.
“You know what? You’re damn right I deserve it,” an energized Zayn continued. “20-plus years in the game at the highest level, never got the recognition. 10-plus years chasing this championship, never got the recognition.”
Zayn emphasized that his legacy is now permanent, regardless of future outcomes.
“I don’t care what happens to me tomorrow, next week, next month, next year,” he declared. “Forever, I will be Sami Zayn, WWE Champion.”
The focus now moves to the June 29 episode of Monday Night Raw. There, the 2026 King of the Ring winner, Oba Femi, is expected to announce his target for WWE SummerSlam.
Femi faces a massive decision: he can challenge either the newly crowned Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn or the World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns for a championship match at SummerSlam this August in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
