RIYADH — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan conveyed condolences to Spain on Wednesday following a high-speed train collision near Toledo that claimed at least 64 lives.
During a telephone conversation with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, Prince Faisal expressed Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with Spain and offered sympathies to the families of the victims, the Spanish government, and the people of Spain, according to the Saudi Press Agency. He also wished those injured a swift recovery.
Rescue crews combed through the wreckage early Wednesday for additional victims after Spain’s second fatal rail accident this year. Reports indicate that several carriages from one train remained on an elevated stretch of track, while at least three others had plunged down an embankment.
