Nov 8 (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia’s civil defence on Sunday lifted alerts across several areas of the kingdom’s oil-rich Eastern Province, including Dhahran, where oil giant Saudi Aramco is headquartered, shortly after issuing warnings of a possible threat.
The all-clear also covers Dammam, Abqaiq and Al‑Ahsa governorate, civil defence officials reported.
The Eastern Province holds the majority of the kingdom’s oil and gas reserves and is home to Saudi Aramco’s headquarters, which sustained extensive damage in an October attack.
Shortly after the all-clear, the Saudi‑led coalition engaged in Yemen said it intercepted a ballistic missile fired by the Iran‑aligned Houthi group toward the Eastern region.
The Houthis have repeatedly launched ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi airports, ports and oil installations, placing the US ally Saudi Arabia under increasing pressure in a conflict that began with a US‑Israeli strike on Iran in February.
