Scott Pelley Secures CAA Representation Following CBS News Departure]
Following his departure from 60 Minutes and CBS News earlier this month, Scott Pelley has secured representation with Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
The 51-time Emmy-winning anchor joined CAA weeks after his termination, which occurred amid reports of a verbal confrontation with new executive producer Nick Bilton during Bari Weiss’s tenure.
While many current and former 60 Minutes correspondents are represented by UTA, Pelley’s move aligns him with former colleague Lesley Stahl at CAA.
More than 35 years into his CBS career, Pelley was fired on June 2 following a verbal confrontation in which he criticized the new leadership. In a letter to Pelley, Bilton stated they could not “find a path forward together” after what he described as a “performative display of hostility.”
In his first interview since termination, Pelley told The New York Times that the new leadership lacks understanding of their roles. “We have people who’ve been installed in these jobs who, through no fault of their own, have no experience in television,” Pelley said. “They don’t know what they’re doing. And there’s a subtle political bias that I’ve never seen at 60 Minutes before, or at CBS News before.” He added, “So that is my hope: a return to sanity. We can save this. It’s possible to land this plane. But right now, CBS News is on fire.”
