Callum Beattie has joined the lineup for ‘Bowie: Live On The Loch,’ a charity event celebrating the life and legacy of David Bowie. The two-day event will be held at Cameron House on the shores of Loch Lomond on November 7 and 8 to benefit Save The Children and mark the 10th anniversary of Bowie’s passing.
The original band that supported Bowie during his iconic Glastonbury 2000 headlining performance will reunite for a single live performance during the weekend. Interested attendees can find remaining tickets here.
Scottish singer-songwriter Beattie will deliver an intimate acoustic set at the event and will also perform alongside members of Bowie’s band.
“Being invited to perform with this band is one of the greatest honors of my life. Without Bowie, there’s no way I’d be a singer or a songwriter,” Beattie stated.
Beattie’s father possessed a “magic cupboard” filled with vinyl records, with Bowie prominently featured. “It’s an immense honor to share the stage with such legends. I hope I can do the songs justice.”
Guitarist Earl Slick, who spoke to NME earlier this year about the band’s reunion, described it as “the best configuration of people Bowie ever had.” Slick added, “It wasn’t just the band. It was the way David was singing. He was singing with all he had. He was at the peak of his career,” recalling the Glastonbury 2000 set, often considered one of the festival’s greatest moments.
The weekend begins on Saturday, November 7, with a black-tie gala dinner at Cameron House, featuring a menu designed by Michelin-starred chef Graeme Cheevers of Glasgow’s Unalome.
Throughout the weekend, attendees will have the opportunity to view rare and previously unseen Bowie footage, along with a curated photography exhibition. Cameron House has confirmed the event will include a global livestream of Sunday’s concert.
Beattie, a singer-songwriter from Musselburgh, is also scheduled to perform at Edinburgh Castle on July 10, with Reverend And The Makers serving as special guests. He released his third album ‘Indi’ this year, following ‘People Like Us’ in 2020 and ‘Vandals’ in 2023.
