It’s been 30 years since Wes Craven’s landmark slasher film Scream hit theaters, introducing audiences to the masked killer “Ghostface” and a cast of small-town characters who have since become permanent fixtures of the horror canon.
Fans of the original 1996 classic can now pre-order a special 30th anniversary edition of Scream, featuring a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release alongside a collection of exclusive memorabilia.
The standout piece of this collector’s box set is a highly detailed replica of the blood-splattered cordless phone from the film’s iconic opening sequence, where Drew Barrymore’s character receives the terrifying call from Ghostface. While the replica prop is non-functional and cannot be used for actual calls, it features pre-recorded audio clips from the movie, playing the chilling dialogue when the receiver is picked up. The set also includes a series of Polaroid-style photographs of the film’s suspects, newspaper clippings, and a replica case file.
The physical release includes the original feature film on two discs, loaded with hours of behind-the-scenes content, including cast and crew commentaries and production featurettes. A digital code is also included, allowing users to redeem a downloadable version of the film for streaming and online viewing.
When Scream was released in December 1996, it was met with widespread critical acclaim and commercial success. Directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson, the film was praised for its clever meta-commentary, sharp humor, and suspenseful storytelling, revitalizing the slasher genre for a new generation. The film starred David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, and Skeet Ulrich, launching a massive franchise that has since expanded into multiple sequels and a television series.
