Friday, October 9, marks a poignant occasion for NASCAR enthusiasts as the Craftsman Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be followed by a Celebration of Life for Kyle Busch. The event, held at the track where Busch passed away in May at age 41, will feature tributes from fellow drivers and family members.

Multiple teams are set to commemorate Busch’s legacy during the Truck race, including Spire Motorsports, which will showcase distinct paint schemes celebrating the debut and 100th victories of Kyle Busch Motorsports. Stewart Friesen has joined the tribute by reviving the iconic black Miccosukee scheme, originally run by Busch for Billy Ballew in 2008 and 2009. This design represents Busch’s first 16 Truck Series wins, nine of which were driven with the black No. 51.

Friesen, piloting the No. 52 Halmar-Friesen Racing entry, faced Busch numerous times throughout his career. Their rivalry reached a dramatic peak in the 2025 season, where Friesen narrowly lost the Atlanta race by 0.017 seconds—the 12th-closest finish in Truck Series history. Busch’s unparalleled record includes 184 starts between 2001 and 2026, with a top-10 finish in his debut at age 16. He holds the all-time wins record with 69 career victories, contributing to 234 total NASCAR wins across all divisions.

As a team owner, Kyle Busch Motorsports achieved 100 Truck Series victories, including driver championships in 2015 and 2017, alongside multiple owner’s titles using varied drivers within single seasons.
