A super-deluxe edition of Talking Heads’ landmark third album Fear of Music will be released on November 13 through Rhino. The 3CD package includes a newly remastered version of the 1979 record, alternate mixes, studio outtakes, and previously unreleased recordings from two complete concerts. A companion Blu-ray disc features footage from the band’s appearance on the BBC’s Old Grey Whistle Test.

Both concerts included in Fear of Music (Super-Deluxe Edition) took place in 1979 shortly after the album’s release: the first at Boston’s Berklee Performing Arts Center, and the second at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey. The physical box set also includes a 60-page photo book with liner notes by Will Hermes, author of Love Goes to Buildings on Fire: Five Years in New York That Changed Music Forever. The release will coincide with the launch of a dedicated Talking Heads channel on SiriusXM Radio.

This super-deluxe edition is Rhino’s second Talking Heads archival project this year. In March, the label issued Tentative Decisions: Demos & Live, a collection of early live recordings and demos made by the New York band between 1975 and 1977.
