India’s Men’s Selection Committee announced a 15-member ODI squad on September 16, 2026, for the home series against West Indies. The three-match series begins in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, followed by fixtures in Guwahati on September 30 and New Chandigarh on October 3.
The squad underwent significant changes because the Asian Games in Japan, scheduled from September 24 to October 3, overlap with all three ODIs. Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Jasprit Bumrah were unavailable due to their Asian Games commitments. Shubman Gill will lead the side as India continue their preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
3. Rinku Singh
Rinku Singh has played two ODIs for India, with his most recent appearance coming in 2023. He has also been developing his bowling to add another dimension to his game. The Asian Games created several vacancies in the squad, making Rinku a strong candidate for a place in the lower-middle order. However, the selectors handed a maiden ODI call-up to Punjab all-rounder Naman Dhir, who can perform a similar batting role. Given Rinku’s limited experience in the format and the time since his last appearance, his omission denied him a valuable opportunity to re-establish himself internationally.
