Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly targeting Atletico Madrid forward Giuliano Simeone as manager Roberto De Zerbi seeks to bolster his attacking options in the upcoming January transfer window.

According to sources in Spain, the Premier League club has identified the 23-year-old Argentine international as a key target to provide much-needed depth and tactical versatility in the final third.

Giuliano Simeone Emerges as Key Target for Spurs

The young forward has established himself as a crucial part of Diego Simeone’s squad at Atletico Madrid, and his energetic, direct style of play is highly regarded. His ability to operate across wide attacking positions offers De Zerbi a flexible tactical option as Tottenham seeks to enhance its offensive capabilities.

However, prising the attacker away from the Spanish capital is expected to prove highly challenging. Atletico Madrid are keen to retain his services and are reportedly unwilling to consider any bids that fall below his substantial €500 million release clause.

While Transfermarkt values the Argentine at approximately €40 million, the massive €500 million buyout clause presents a monumental financial obstacle. This significant discrepancy highlights the difficulty of any potential negotiation, with other Premier League giants like Manchester City and Manchester United also reportedly monitoring the situation.

While Tottenham possess the financial capability to pursue high-profile signings, Atletico’s unyielding position could severely complicate any attempt to lure the Argentine to north London.

Simeone recently extended his contract with the Spanish club in January 2026, securing his future at the Metropolitano until June 2030. Additionally, his comfort working under his father, Diego Simeone, makes a departure particularly difficult to facilitate.

Spurs are likely to maintain a watchful eye on his development over the coming months before deciding on a formal bid. While adding a dynamic forward would significantly enhance De Zerbi’s tactical options, Atletico’s strong reluctance to sell suggests Tottenham might need to explore alternative targets if negotiations stall.
