WASHINGTON — The U.S. Navy is weighing the acquisition of warships constructed in allied nations such as Japan and South Korea, according to several naval officials speaking to Nikkei. This unprecedented procurement consideration is driven by the urgent need to accelerate fleet growth amid China’s rapid naval expansion, prompting the United States to explore alternative sources while also refocusing on rebuilding its own shipbuilding capacity.
