U.S. President Donald Trump endorsed his ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, ahead of next week’s parliamentary election, signaling strong U.S. support for Netanyahu’s candidacy as he seeks another term amid a tightly contested race.
In a public endorsement, Trump praised Netanyahu as a “great warrior prime minister” and a key partner in regional security, highlighting the joint U.S.–Israel strikes against Iran in February. The ongoing conflict, now entering its seventh month, has caused significant disruptions to global energy markets and inflicted extensive damage on infrastructure across the Middle East, destabilising regional economies.
“Bibi Netanyahu has demonstrated strength, bravery, and strategic brilliance in the face of formidable opposition, even within Israel,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, underscoring Netanyahu’s ability to navigate intense domestic and international pressures.
“Despite the challenges, he has not only endured but thrived. I have observed Bibi under the most demanding circumstances, and while many would falter under such pressure, he has grown stronger and continues to lead with unwavering resolve.”
