Event Summary
Fighter Jos Hokit made an indecent comment about former First Lady Michelle Obama during a post‑fight interview after his victory at the contentious UFC Freedom 250 event, which took place on the White House lawn on Sunday night and was attended by numerous high‑profile figures such as celebrities, athletes, billionaires and political leaders.
Josh Hokit speaks to Joe Rogan following his win in a heavyweight fight during the UFC Freedom 250 event.
Event Highlights
The event, delayed briefly by weather, featured seven bouts and concluded with American fighter Justin Gaethje delivering an upset victory over Georgian Ilia Topuria in the main event, thereby capturing the Lightweight Championship.
A particularly controversial moment occurred after a mid‑card bout, when Jos Hokit gave an interview inside the octagon to UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan following his win over Derrick Lewis.
Hokit concluded the interview by abruptly stating a right‑wing conspiracy claim, “Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?”
Rogan smiled but refrained from responding to the remark and closed the interview with, “Ladies and gentlemen, Josh Hokit.”
Prior to the bout, Hokit gave the president—who was seated ringside—a gold chain that contained an encased trading card.
Cormier Controversy
Hours before the event, a now‑deleted X post by UFC commentator and former Light Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier sparked additional controversy. The post featured screenshots allegedly showing text messages from President’s son Eric Trump asking whether any fights at the White House event were rigged, and was captioned, “The UFC is a sport that I am deeply passionate about. I will not tolerate this type of insider behavior. Shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event.” Eric Trump promptly denied the alleged messages and said the screenshots were fabricated, tweeting, “This is completely fake! I have never reached out to Daniel. In fact, this is scary,” and later, “We are aware of the fake, AI‑generated screenshots being circulated online. I have never spoken to Daniel. He has since deleted his post, which confirms it was clearly fabricated.” A community report on X indicated that multiple journalists and eyewitnesses confirmed Cormier had posted the screenshots himself before deleting them. Cormier also posted, “Are people really this dumb?” It remains uncertain whether Cormier authored the post or if his account was compromised.
