As Ukraine continues to face the ongoing conflict, the nation observed its National Flag Day, a holiday aimed at fostering patriotism and national unity during the fifth year of the war.

During Sunday’s ceremonies, participants raised the national flag and observed a minute of silence to honor those who have fallen in the conflict. The event also featured the singing of the Ukrainian national anthem, accompanied by patriotic and folk songs performed by a military orchestra.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended the official ceremonies in the capital city of Kyiv.

In an address to military personnel, President Zelenskyy emphasized that the flag represents what is most precious to the thousands of soldiers defending the nation, stating it symbolizes “our entire Ukraine.”

Established as a national holiday on August 23, 2004, Ukraine’s National Flag Day is celebrated annually one day before the country’s Independence Day.
