Umesh Yadav prepares to leave Vidarbha after securing NOC from VCA

Umesh Yadav has chosen to end his 18-year association with Vidarbha after receiving a No Objection Certificate from the Vidarbha Cricket Association. The 38-year-old fast bowler is now in discussions with several state cricket associations as he looks to continue his domestic career elsewhere.

Yadav had sought clarity from the Vidarbha Cricket Association about his future with the state side and his wish to keep representing Vidarbha. However, he did not receive a clear response regarding his role or plans with the team.

That uncertainty led him to consider other opportunities. Although he recently featured in the Vidarbha Premier League and had expressed interest in playing more cricket for the state, the lack of a firm response from the VCA pushed him to explore options beyond Vidarbha.

“I have decided to move on from this season and play for another state. I have got my NOC from Vidarbha Cricket Association,” Yadav told The Indian Express.

Why Yadav chose to move on

Yadav has not featured for India in a Test match since June 7, 2023, against Australia. With his international career currently stalled, the veteran pacer has shifted his focus toward domestic cricket. His decision to leave Vidarbha underlines his determination to remain active in competitive cricket.

Yadav’s strong record in home Tests

Yadav has built an impressive record in home Test conditions. He has claimed 101 wickets in 32 home Tests at an average of 25.88. Since 2018, he has taken 43 wickets across 11 home Tests at an average of 18.25, including one ten-wicket haul and two five-wicket hauls.

Across all formats, Yadav has represented India in 141 international matches. His departure marks the end of a major chapter in his domestic career, with his next state association still to be confirmed.
