The arrival of winter signals it’s time to pull out your skis and prepare for the slopes.


Europe boasts the world’s most advanced ski market, with the Alps remaining a classic choice, complemented by resorts in the Dolomites, Pyrenees, Scandinavia, the Balkans, and Central and Eastern Europe.

According to Skiresort.com, the continent features over 3,900 ski resorts, offering more than 37,800 km of marked pistes and upwards of 16,800 ski lifts.

Given the abundance of ski destinations, accommodation options are plentiful. Below is a selection of hotels and lodges set to open or reopen for the 2026‑2027 season.

New ski hotels and lodges in Europe

Fahrenheit Seven Les Menuires, France

Fahrenheit Seven will launch its Les Menuires property on 11 December 2026, marking the brand’s third Alpine location after Val Thorens and Courchevel. Situated on the ski‑front in the Preyerand district, the hotel offers immediate access to Les 3 Vallées and features an on‑site ski boutique, bar, restaurants, terrace, and indoor pool.

The First Cortina, by The Pavilions, Italy

The First Cortina, operated by The Pavilions, is slated to open in early December 2026 on Corso Italia, in the heart of Cortina d’Ampezzo. The property comprises 76 rooms and suites, positioning guests close to the Dolomites while providing a convenient town base. Select suites include private wellness facilities and terraces with mountain vistas. Dining venues will feature Zuma (contemporary Japanese) and Velo (Italian), complemented by a dedicated ski room and the REVĪVŌ Spa.

The Green Resort, Zillertal, Austria

The Green Resort is set to welcome guests in Uderns from December 2026, pairing a Zillertal ski base with an extensive wellness facility. The resort encompasses a 3,300 m² indoor‑outdoor spa area featuring pools, saunas, and steam baths. For ski enthusiasts, a seven‑night winter package is available, covering accommodation, meals, a six‑day Zillertal Super Ski Pass per person, and a selection of wellness treatments.

The Ski Lodge, Verbier, Switzerland

Scheduled to open in December 2026, The Ski Lodge is a 36‑room boutique hotel situated just steps from Verbier’s Place Centrale. Besides its prime location, the property boasts a spa and a bar. The cutting‑edge spa will feature an indoor swimming pool, cold plunge, sauna, hammam, and a relaxation lounge. The hotel’s bar, named The Listening Room, will be accessible to both guests and visitors.

Schiefergut Family Resort, Flachau, Austria

Families visiting Flachau, Austria, will gain a new accommodation option when Schiefergut opens in December 2026. This four‑star resort offers 28 suites and chalets positioned near the ski lifts, Snow Space Salzburg, the Achter Jet lift, and cross‑country trails.

Hôtel Le Tremplin, Morzine, France

After a comprehensive three‑year renovation, Hôtel Le Tremplin in central Morzine will unveil 13 self‑contained holiday suites for the 2026‑2027 ski season. This completes the property’s full reopening, following the return of its bar, restaurant, and après‑ski terrace last winter.

Garance Hotel & Spa, Morzine, France

The former Les Airelles hotel in Morzine is poised to reopen as Garance Hotel & Spa in December 2026. Located near the ski lifts and the legendary slopes of the Portes du Soleil, this four‑star Mont‑Blanc Collection property will offer 65 rooms, a brasserie, a cocktail bar, and dedicated areas for children and teenagers. Planned wellness amenities include a pool, Nordic spa, treatment rooms, and spaces for yoga and fitness.

Les Gets celebrates 90th year with new snowpark

Although not a new lodging, Les Gets resort in Haute‑Savoie, France, is marking a significant milestone – the 90th anniversary of its inaugural ski lift – and will introduce a new snowpark in 2026.

Tailored for beginners, the snowpark situated beneath the La Croix chairlift will take the place of the existing mini boardercross course.

Les Gets intends a soft launch on 12 December 2026, contingent on snow conditions, with a full opening slated for 19 December 2026. The season is set to continue through 11 April 2027.

Raffles and One&Only in Courchevel 1850

Although these two luxury properties are still a few years away, they merit a place on any winter travel wish list.

Raffles Hotels & Resorts is scheduled to open its inaugural alpine resort in Courchevel 1850 in 2028. Situated at the core of Les 3 Vallées within the French Alps — home to the world’s largest interconnected ski area — Courchevel 1850 remains one of skiing’s most iconic destinations.

Following that, One&Only Resort and Private Homes plan to launch their first French Alps property in Courchevel 1850 in 2030.
