US armed forces are secretly arranging oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz, informed sources disclosed to Axios on Wednesday.
The situation reveals that America has set up a hidden shipping passage through the strait, secretly enabling the movement of millions of oil barrels daily.
As reported by the operation, 15 to 20 tankers have successfully passed through the strait, following a southern route along Oman’s coastline, according to the news report, which states this operation has been ongoing for several weeks.
The informants stated that approximately 10 million barrels of oil are transported out of the Hormuz strait into global energy markets daily, representing about half of the pre-conflict volume.
When addressing the press on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump declared, “The strait is open. A lot of vessels are moving through.”
Additionally, the president noted that oil prices are decreasing once more, mentioning, “They were discussing $350 per barrel, but now it ranges between $84 and $85.”
“The Hormuz Strait will not hold the same significance as before,” Trump explained, clarifying that “people have identified other alternatives to the strait, with record numbers of pipelines being constructed.”
“We are exporting substantial amounts of oil.”
Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz saw a minor increase over the weekend, provisional shipping information on Tuesday indicated, though still remaining in single digits.
Nonetheless, data on Wednesday showed that shipping movement through the strait has decelerated again as concerns about vessels potentially being targeted resurface.
As per Kpler data, six commercial vessels passed through the strait on Tuesday by 0258 GMT, down from nine the previous day and beneath the 10-day average of 11.
“Some vessels may be transiting the strait with their transponders disabled and therefore would not appear in our records”
Reuters contributed to this report.
