A Utah-based beverage company has initiated a voluntary recall of over 77,000 cans of 7UP Tropical after discovering that some packages labeled as zero-sugar soda were found to contain the full-sugar version of the drink.
Admiral Beverage Corporation launched the recall on August 20, as reported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The recall affects 3,240 cases, totaling 77,760 cans distributed exclusively in Utah.
The recalled product consists of 7UP Tropical sold in 12-ounce cans, packaged in 12-packs. According to FDA records, certain cans marked “7Up Tropical Zero Sugar” actually contained regular full-sugar soda, potentially exposing consumers to undeclared sugar content.
Consumers can identify the affected product by the lot code UT06176 and a best-by date of March 17, 2027. The packaging carries UPC code 0 78000 03798 2.
The FDA classified the recall as Class II on September 29, over a month after the initial recall announcement. This classification indicates that consumption of the mislabeled product could result in temporary or medically reversible health effects, though the likelihood of serious consequences is considered low.
The recall remains active, with no consumer complaints or adverse reactions reported to date. The FDA listing does not specify which retailers received the affected product or provide details on how the labeling error occurred.
Admiral Beverage Corporation, headquartered in Worland, Wyoming, operates a production facility in Pleasant View, Utah. FOX Business contacted the company and Keurig Dr Pepper—the parent company of 7UP—for further information regarding the recall, including specifics about the labeling mistake and recommended actions for consumers who may have purchased the product.
