Verstappen’s Dutch GP Ally Uncertain as Hadjar’s Injury Delays Red Bull Rotation

Max Verstappen faces potential lineup changes for Red Bull at Zandvoort as Isack Hadjar’s wrist injury threatens his availability for the final F1 race of the season. The Dutch driver sustained the injury during pre-race training and may be unable to compete, according to Motorsport.com.

Team principal Laurent Mekies confirmed no official decision has been made, though reports from De Telegraaf indicate contingency plans are underway. If Hadjar misses the Dutch GP, Liam Lawson – currently competing for Racing Bulls – would debut as Verstappen’s replacement, a role he briefly held last season until the Japanese Grand Prix.

This move would also see Yuki Tsunoda shift back to a reserve position at the sister team, pairing with Arvid Lindblad. Red Bull prioritizes Hadjar’s recovery ahead of the upcoming Monza race in two weeks, leaving flexibility to finalize the driver lineup closer to the event.

For Lawson, this would be his first race for Red Bull since last year’s Chinese Grand Prix

Lawson, presently ranked ninth in the F1 standings, has consistently scored points this season barring three races. His potential return to the senior team would reward his 2024 performance and familiarity with Red Bull’s evolving car design for the 2026 regulations.

Hadjar’s absence could also accelerate Tsunoda’s return to active racing duties, though his guaranteed 2027 IndyCar move suggests a transitional role at Red Bull remains likely.
