The player became the ninth French‑born athlete to notch an NHL career start when he joined the Flyers at the beginning of the 2014‑15 season at age 29. Prior to that, he spent five seasons in the Swedish Elite League — now known as the SHL — with Skelleftea AIK, where he evolved into an NHL‑caliber competitor, tallying 64 goals and 125 points across 238 games and capturing SEL championships in 2013 and 2014. He attributes his development, particularly his face‑off proficiency and defensive‑zone play, to the guidance of his coaches in Sweden.
His final on‑ice appearance with NHL players occurred in February, when he competed for France at the 2026 Milano‑Cortina Olympic Games.
“I am more sorrowful than I anticipated in bidding farewell to my playing days, not only because of the joy of competition but also because of the deep human connections forged by standing in front of pucks throughout every season. As I step away from professional hockey at an age when continuing would raise more questions than answers, I am grateful that my career has coincided with the education and discipline instilled by my mother, which helped me achieve goals beyond initial expectations. The NHL was, for me, a natural outcome of relentless hard work, while representing France at the Olympics remained a lifelong dream.”
Before I thank my family, I must acknowledge the fan community that underpins our sport’s greatness. Every supporter—whether cheering or jeering—has contributed to my growth, enjoyment, and relentless effort. The chants I heard in Rouen, Leksand, SAIK, and Ajoie, the fervent defenses from fans in Philadelphia and Vegas, and the endless signs of encouragement from followers in Colorado, Seattle, and Tampa Bay are memories I will cherish forever.
