The Wendy’s Company has appointed Steve Cirulis as its new chief financial officer (CFO) and chief strategy officer (CSO).

Cirulis succeeds Ken Cook, who oversaw the finance function since 2024. Cook will remain in an advisory capacity until next month to support the transition.

Cirulis will report to Bob Wright, the company’s president and CEO, who was appointed last month.

In his new role, Cirulis will join Wendy’s senior leadership team.

Cirulis said, “It is an honour to join this iconic brand at such a pivotal time in its history.”

“I see a tremendous opportunity at Wendy’s to drive top‑line growth, enhance franchisee profitability, and create shareholder value. I look forward to collaborating with our talented employees and franchisees to unlock the system’s full potential.”

Prior to joining Wendy’s, Cirulis served as CFO and CSO at Potbelly Sandwich Works, where he worked closely with CEO Bob Wright. Their collaboration produced a more than 500% increase in Potbelly’s share price, double‑digit gains in average unit volume, expanded restaurant margins, and stronger returns on invested capital.

Earlier in his career, Cirulis held senior finance and strategy roles with prominent restaurant and retail operators, including Panera Bread, McDonald’s, and Gap. His experience spans nearly three decades across food, beverage, retail, and consulting sectors.

Wright said, “Driving sound financial discipline, top‑line growth, and enhanced franchisee profitability are key to our future success. I am confident that Steve will play a pivotal role in executing Wendy’s turnaround, generating value for franchisees, employees, and shareholders.”

He added, “With decades of deep experience across large‑scale retail and restaurant brands, Steve brings a wealth of expertise that will benefit our system from day one.”
