WWE’s post-production team has reportedly expressed feelings of being “handcuffed” due to stringent censorship requirements from Netflix.
During Monday’s taped episode of WWE Raw, a backstage segment involving Royce Keys and OTM attacking The Bloodline was censored on Netflix, with visual blood effects blurred out. WWE later shared an unedited version of the angle on social media platforms.
According to Fightful, WWE was aware that Netflix would enforce certain content guidelines, but some within the organization did not anticipate the restrictions being as rigorous as they have proven to be.
The report highlighted that WWE felt the uncensored version of the angle needed to be viewed “as originally intended and designed,” which motivated its release on social media.
Netflix also made alterations to a recent Raw replay featuring Becky Lynch. A line from Lynch’s promo aimed at Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio, which was broadcast live during the August 3 episode, was subsequently removed from the Netflix replay. Further reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter indicated that the line had been included in the script and was not an impromptu remark.
