WWE personality Danhausen, known for his “very nice, very evil” persona, was invited to the New York Knicks’ NBA Championship parade held in New York City today. However, he did not attend the event despite previous humorous claims of influencing the team’s historic title run.
As reported by Pwinsider’s Mike Johnson, Danhausen was not in New York on the day of the parade. He had left the city after filming at ESPN on June 17 and was not present for the celebrations. Johnson noted, “‘I can confirm Danhausen is not in NYC and not at the Knicks parade. He was in NYC yesterday filming at ESPN, so someone made the decision not to have him here today. Whoever made that decision should, indeed, be cursed.’“
Danhausen had jokingly been linked to the Knicks’ 53-year championship drought, with fans crediting his “cursing” of the Cleveland Cavaliers during the Eastern Conference Finals and subsequent “uncursing” of the Knicks. The team went on to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 4-1 in the NBA Finals.
Jalen Brunson, a Knicks star and wrestling enthusiast, acknowledged the superstition, stating he believed Danhausen’s ceremonial role may have contributed to the team’s success.
