Yael Trepy’s Condition Stabilizes but Outlook Remains Cautious After Pool Incident

Serie A forward Yael Trepy is still hospitalized, under pharmacological sedation and ventilator support after losing consciousness in a Sardinian swimming pool.

The 20‑year‑old was airlifted to hospital after being rescued from a villa swimming pool on Sunday afternoon.

Cagliari released a statement on Tuesday from the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari, where Trepy is receiving care.

The hospital noted that Trepy is fever‑free and that his respiratory function has improved since his severe admission.

If his progress continues, doctors plan a gradual tapering of sedation.

“The prognosis remains guarded,” the statement added.

BBC Sport reports that Trepy was swimming with friends when he apparently encountered difficulty in a deeper section of the pool where he could not stand.

Cagliari’s squad had the weekend off following a 1‑0 Coppa Italia victory over Arezzo on Friday, a match in which Trepy played 54 minutes.

Last season, Trepy made eight Serie A appearances for Cagliari, scoring once, having come up through the club’s youth system.

He entered Cagliari’s academy in 2022 after beginning his youth career with the French club US Creteil‑Lusitanos.
