- Yellow Card, Africa’s leading stablecoin solutions provider, is entering Brazil—Latin America’s largest cryptocurrency market and a global leader in crypto adoption—through its acquisition of GoMoney.
Yellow Card, Africa’s first licensed stablecoin on- and off-ramp, is expanding into the Brazilian market. The stablecoin payment solutions provider is entering Latin America’s largest crypto market by acquiring GoMoney Sociedade Prestadora de Serviços de Ativos Virtuais Ltda. (GoMoney), a licensed virtual asset service provider (VASP) in Brazil.
Yellow Card Acquires Brazil’s GoMoney
According to Yellow Card, the transaction was completed in October. The move supports the company’s objective of strengthening its footprint in Brazil, which Chainalysis ranked first on its 2026 Global Crypto Adoption Index.
The acquisition allows Yellow Card to establish direct operations in Brazil. It also enhances the company’s local collections and disbursements in Brazilian reais, with stablecoin settlement processed through a domestically regulated rail. The infrastructure is compatible with Pix, the Central Bank of Brazil’s real-time digital payment system.
Despite the acquisition, Yellow Card confirmed that GoMoney will continue to be managed by its founding team. However, GoMoney will now function as a wholly owned subsidiary of Yellow Card.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed by either party.
Strategic Significance of the Deal
“What began as an effort to address payment challenges across Africa has evolved into a much larger initiative across emerging markets,” said Chris Maurice, Co-Founder and CEO of Yellow Card. “We are building stablecoin infrastructure that connects businesses and markets worldwide—and we are just getting started.”
The expansion increases Yellow Card’s support to more than 50 currencies and is expected to boost transaction volume, which exceeded $10 billion as of mid-September this year.
Brazil ranked highly in Chainalysis’ most recent evaluation after recording $252.5 billion in crypto activity between July 2025 and June 2026. The report also found that stablecoin activity in the country surged 495% between 2024 and 2026.
The blockchain analytics firm attributed the rapid growth in stablecoin transactions in Brazil to expanding business use cases, including cross-border payments and liquidity management.
$40 Million Funding Round
This milestone follows Yellow Card’s August financing round, in which it secured $40 million from institutional investors, including Standard Chartered Bank and Sony.
The company has recently broadened its regulatory compliance across Canada, Switzerland, Nigeria, Ghana, and Zimbabwe, and continues to pursue strategic expansion into additional markets.
