DUBAI: Yemen’s armed forces conducted 2,309 precision strikes against Houthi positions on multiple fronts, resulting in an estimated 1,250 militia combatants killed and the destruction of over 460 military vehicles and pieces of equipment, a military spokesperson announced on Wednesday.
Majed Al-Nuzaili, spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces, posted on X that government forces had intensified their offensive operations under Operation Dawn of Yemen, employing fighter jets, drones, artillery, rocket launchers, and sniper units.
These actions dismantled Houthi defensive lines, disrupted command and control networks, and facilitated government troop advances into fortified positions, he noted.
In Taiz, Al-Nuzaili said government forces increased airstrikes and ambushes targeting Houthi convoys and reinforcements, preventing the militia from regrouping and replenishing its losses.
He urged families residing in Houthi‑controlled areas to keep their children from being recruited by the militia and warned civilians to steer clear of military installations and active combat zones.
He also restated the amnesty initiative announced by Rashad Al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, for Houthi fighters who surrender their weapons and abandon the fight.
The “safe return and amnesty” offer remains available to those who lay down their arms and return to their families, he added.
Al-Nuzaili accused the Houthis of continuing to strike residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure in Taiz despite their battlefield setbacks.
He affirmed that government forces remain committed to international humanitarian law, limiting attacks to legitimate military targets, while condemning the militia for showing disregard for civilian lives.
