Three years after abandoning their farewell tour due to frontman Steven Tyler’s larynx injury, Aerosmith have confirmed two comeback performances at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on October 29 and November 1, sharing the stage with a distinguished roster of guest artists including the Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Heart, Andrew Watt, Billy Idol, Chad Smith, Slash, Duff McKagan, Eric Church, Sammy Hagar, and Tom Morello. The event has been titled California, Dream On: Aerosmith and Friends.

“Even more artists, special guests, and surprise appearances will be announced in the weeks ahead,” reads the concert announcement, “promising unforgettable collaborations and unexpected moments across both nights. The lineup will vary each night. Final nightly lineups will be announced at or near showtime and are subject to change.” General ticket on-sale begins October 10; further details are available on the band’s official website.

On May 1, 2023, Aerosmith unveiled plans for a 40-date North American ‘Peace Out’ farewell tour. “I think it’s about time,” guitarist Joe Perry told the Associated Press. “You never know how much longer everybody’s going to be healthy to do this.” Drummer Joey Kramer sat out the tour to “focus his attention on his family and health,” with John Douglas assuming drumming duties in his absence.

The tour launched in Philadelphia on September 2, 2023, featuring a setlist that blended hits such as “Love in an Elevator,” “Sweet Emotion,” and “Dream On” with deeper cuts like “Adam’s Apple,” “Hangman’s Jury,” and “No More No More.” However, it came to a sudden halt two shows later following a performance in Elmont, New York, when Steven Tyler injured his larynx. Although the band initially attempted to postpone the dates during his recovery, they ultimately cancelled the entire tour.

“As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other,” they stated. “He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice back to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision — as a band of brothers — to retire from the touring stage.”

Tyler maintained a low public profile in the years that followed, appearing occasionally for special performances such as Janie’s Fund charity shows and Ozzy Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning farewell concert in July 2025. During these appearances, he sang without apparent difficulty or strain.

Meanwhile, Perry concentrated his efforts on the Joe Perry Project, his longtime side group. In the fall of 2025, they launched a tour featuring a lineup that included Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson, and Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo. Concurrently, Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton toured and recorded with his new band, Close Enemies.

In November 2025, Aerosmith and Yungblud collaborated on the EP One More Time. “It was, like, insane, meeting [Yungblud] for the first time,” Tyler told Rolling Stone UK. “I fucking fell in love with him, first sight. All I could think of was – dare I say something that’s been used to death? – he was like a brother from another mother. It was like looking at myself in the mirror. Like: ‘Wait, where have I seen this fucking guy before?'”
