ANOHNI Performs Selena and Lou Reed Covers at Balenciaga’s Paris Haute Couture Show

On Wednesday, July 8, Balenciaga unveiled its newest haute‑couture collection during Paris Fashion Week, the first collection overseen by newly appointed creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. While Piccioli’s designs made a striking visual impact, the runway also featured a specially recorded soundtrack performed by ANOHNI. She interpreted verses from the late Selena’s “I Could Fall in Love” and Lou Reed’s “Perfect Day,” before moving into three of her own tracks — “Miracle Now,” “My Lord My Love,” and “Hope There’s Someone.”

ANOHNI and the Johnsons released their latest album, My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross in 2023. In 2024 they issued a stand‑alone single titled “Breaking,” recorded during the same sessions. More recently, ANOHNI contributed a cover of SOPHIE’s “Is It Cold in the Water?” alongside Moses Sumney on the November 2024 Red Hot Organization benefit compilation fuck.
