Beaumont Steers The Blaze Past Lancashire in Convincing Chase

Thunder collapsed to 33 for 4 within six overs, with openers Eve Jones and Darcey Carter, as well as captain Ellie Threlkeld, caught attempting to clear the inner circle, and Seren Smale dismissed by stumping.

Opening bowlers Grace Ballinger and Charley Phillips dismissed Jones and Carter, and Australian overseas all‑rounder Charli Knott took Smale and Threlkeld with consecutive deliveries in the sixth over.

However, overseas star Lanning sparked a recovery, beginning with a partnership with Fi Morris and later with Lister.

Lanning added 29 with Morris, who was caught at short third for 14 after a top‑edged pull off Ballinger, and then built a 100‑run partnership with Scottish international Lister over 9.5 overs.

The sixth‑wicket pair struck four sixes; Lanning hit three of them, all lofted around the wicket in the final two overs, contributing 33 runs in total.

One of the sixes was a slog sweep off Kathryn Bryce’s seam in the penultimate over, while the other two were driven over long‑off and mid‑wicket against Phillips in the final over.

The Blaze lost Marie Kelly early to Grace Potts, but Beaumont launched two sixes over mid‑wicket and long‑on off Tara Norris in the third over to spark the chase.

She followed with a slog sweep for a third six off her former England teammate Kate Cross, as the home bowlers struggled to establish a reliable length.

Beaumont reached her half‑century off 24 balls, just beyond the powerplay, before Thunder mounted a second recovery as spin bowlers gained traction.

She was dismissed pulling at Carter’s off‑spin, and Kathryn Bryce caught Morris’s full toss at long‑on.

Georgia Elwiss was bowled by Hannah Jones’s left‑arm spin after two deflections off her bat and body while attempting a sweep, and Knott also dismissed Jones to the same bowler, leaving The Blaze five down and 63 runs short of victory.

Emma Jones also holed out to long‑off against Morris (3‑25), yet Scotland international Bryce was supported by captain Kirstie Gordon, who added 20 in a 45‑run seventh‑wicket partnership.
