Bitcoin ETFs extended their rally, pulling in billions of dollars of fresh capital over the past week.
Since last Monday, U.S. investors have poured $2.56 billion into the funds, according to Farside Investors, lifting the leading cryptocurrency’s price.
This week alone, roughly $652 million of new cash has entered products offered by BlackRock, Morgan Stanley and Fidelity.
Bitcoin recently traded around $78,302, up roughly 25% over seven days, after peaking at $81,160 on Monday.
The surge follows a sluggish June and July, when Bitcoin mostly traded below $65,000.
The cryptocurrency has gained traction after the Treasury signaled it would at least double its liquidity‑support buyback operations. The announcement weakened the dollar, benefiting non‑yielding assets such as Bitcoin and gold.
Bloomberg Intelligence ETF analyst Eric Balchunas posted on X Wednesday that the “debasement trade” is back.
Gold and Bitcoin ETFs together recorded combined inflows of $7 billion in the past week—the biggest five‑day total on record—as the debasement trade overtakes AI as the market focus.
The debasement trade involves buying assets to hedge against currency depreciation. Bitcoin and precious metals have performed well in this environment because they cannot be printed indefinitely.
Last year, the strategy attracted considerable attention but faded as investors pivoted toward AI‑related equities.
Today, investors are concerned about U.S. borrowing levels, a weak dollar and attempts to curb long‑term yields.
Bitcoin ETFs posted their strongest week since October, drawing almost $2 billion in inflows.
Favorable regulatory signals from the White House have further fueled trading momentum. President Donald Trump met with crypto executives earlier this week and called on Congress to pass the long‑awaited Crypto Clarity Act.
