Tim Bradley has assessed the notable strength of Rolando Romero, contending it may influence his upcoming welterweight bout with Teofilo Lopez.
They are scheduled to meet at the T‑Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 22, with Romero defending his WBA world title for the first time.
He previously captured the WBA regular championship by stopping Ryan Garcia in the second round and securing a unanimous decision victory in May 2025.
Since then, the American has been promoted to full WBA champion, but has been inactive while pursuing bouts with fighters such as Devin Haney and Conor Benn.
Now, Romero is set to return to the ring against Lopez, who suffered a unanimous decision loss to Shakur Stevenson in January.
After being outboxed decisively, the 28‑year‑old relinquished his WBO super‑lightweight belt and is now aiming to reinvent himself at 147 lb.
Bradley, however, cautions that confronting a powerful Romero on his debut at the new weight could prove disastrous for Lopez.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Bradley emphasized the disparity in power as a key factor in evaluating their upcoming WBA title fight.
“Which version of Rolando will appear? Should we expect the more calculated fighter who faced Ryan Garcia — an unconventional boxer — or the aggressive version?”
“Or are we looking at Rolando who will press the fight against Teofilo? Teofilo Lopez possesses no knockout power at 140 lb; he has yet to stop anyone.”
“Will he move up to 147 lb, gaining seven pounds? Rolando has been competing at that weight for some time; it feels different when you’re hit with those heavy punches, and Rolando possesses that freaky strength.”
Bradley added that his analysis also applies to Lopez, as he continues to speculate which version of ‘The Takeover’ will actually materialize.
