Bronny James appears to be navigating the Lakers’ season without a partner by his side — and not solely because his father recently joined a new team.
Bronny had been in a relationship with Parker Whitfield since at least October 2024, when the couple made their relationship public on social media. The two had actually known each other since high school and may have been dating for some time before going official.
The relationship reportedly came to an end in August, when both Bronny and Whitfield unfollowed each other on social media — a move that strongly suggested a breakup.
Whitfield recently celebrated her 22nd birthday, and the messages her parents shared online appeared to carry subtle criticism aimed at Bronny.
Parker’s father, actor Dondré Whitfield, marked the occasion by posting two selfies of the two together on Instagram. In the caption, he signed off with the words, “The forever man in your life.”
The sentiment reads like the kind of reassurance a father might offer his daughter following a difficult breakup.
Parker’s mother, Hollywood producer Salli Richardson-Whitfield, also posted a tribute that appeared to take aim at Bronny.
In her caption, she wrote: “Don’t ever worry about the people who are incapable of seeing what a shining star you are because your world is gonna be filled with so much love and light, all the negative things will fall to the curb.”
To be fair, there is no definitive way to confirm whether these posts were directed at Bronny in the wake of his split with Parker. However, the timing and carefully chosen wording make the connection seem highly plausible.
Bronny had publicly celebrated Parker on her 21st birthday last year, but he notably remained silent this time around.
