Pope Leo XIV’s collection is expanding with Chicago sports memorabilia, including an autographed jersey from Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
The jersey, gifted by Williams’ Caleb Cares foundation, was presented to the Pope by U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See Brian Burch on July 4. It features Williams’ personalized “To: Pope Leo” inscription and three hashtags: #DaPope, #DaBears, and #Heisman22.

The jersey’s inscription includes “AMDG” (Latin for “For the greater glory of God”). Williams also shared a photo of Pope Leo and Burch on his Instagram story with the caption “shoutout DAAAA POPEEEE.”
Notably, Leo has a strong Chicago sports connection. He attended Game 1 of the 2005 World Series between the White Sox and Astros, and was gifted a game-winning ball by former White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski last month. Leaving sports aside, the Pope recently received a pair of signed Paul Konerko jerseys and a bat from White Sox legend Nellie Fox.
While the Bears prepare for their Sept. 13 season opener against the Panthers, Pope Leo’s new Chicago sports collection continues to grow ahead of the team’s Divisional Round appearance in 2025.
