Sam Curran delivered a standout all-round performance to guide MI London to a commanding seven-wicket victory against Sunrisers Leeds in the men’s Hundred opener.
Chasing a target of 144, Curran remained unbeaten on 60, helping MI London reach the mark with 16 balls to spare.
Despite a strong bowling spell from Brydon Carse (2-18) that briefly threatened a comeback, Curran and Nicholas Pooran dismantled the opposition with a rapid 93-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Pooran was particularly explosive, reaching his fifty in just 19 balls and finishing with an unbeaten 58, highlighted by five boundaries and five sixes.
Earlier, Curran contributed significantly with the ball, claiming 2-27, while Richard Gleeson proved lethal with a 4-25 haul to restrict Sunrisers Leeds to 143.
Mitchell Marsh provided a solid start with 41, but the Sunrisers lost momentum following his dismissal. Tom Alsop provided a late spark with 31 off 18 balls, but it was not enough to offset struggles from captain Zak Crawley (13) and Harry Brook (8).
MI London, formerly recognized as the Oval Invincibles before the league’s transition to private investment, enter this season as the defending three-time champions.
