Eddie Hearn Confirms Tyson Fury is Contractually Bound to Anthony Joshua Fight Amid Venue Dispute

Eddie Hearn has firmly stated that neither party can unilaterally withdraw from the highly anticipated heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Recently, Fury expressed doubts about the bout’s viability, suggesting that Joshua’s team was demanding “more money” and labeling them “cowards.” However, Hearn, who promotes Joshua, remains highly confident that the landmark matchup will proceed as scheduled.

“We’ve signed the contract, we’re waiting for a date. You saw Tyson Fury shouting and screaming—there’s nothing to shout and scream about, the fight is done,” Hearn told DAZN. “The fight’s signed. No one can pull out of the fight. You can’t just pull out of a contract.”

“There is no suggestion that the fight is not happening; no one can stop this fight from occurring. The only way it can be stopped is if there is an actual breach of the contract,” Hearn added.

The two British heavyweights have been in discussions to stage the historic all-British clash, potentially in November, with New York’s Madison Square Garden identified as a prime venue. Hearn noted that while the original contract specified a UK venue, Saudi organizers Sela are pushing to relocate the event to the United States.

“We know everyone involved in the fight wants to do it in America. We do not,” Hearn stated. “We’ve told Sela and the team that if they want to do it in America, these are the terms we can move forward with. But we would rather not.”

Joshua and Fury previously attempted to agree on terms in 2021, but the negotiations collapsed after a U.S. judge ruled that Fury had to face Deontay Wilder in a trilogy fight instead.
